Your hosts are a young couple who mainly live in Portugal. When in town, they think Old Church Street II the ideal pied-à-terre. And frankly, we agree.

Calming influence

You’ll find this home in a beautiful period building in the beating heart of Chelsea. If outside is all about the buzz and bustle, inside is all peace and precision. The sitting room, you’ll notice, is just elegance itself. High spec and well-proportioned, the walls are white and there are tasty hints of turquoise. You’ve a choice of armchair or soft cream sofa in which to settle yourself, but not before you’ve prepared a deserving drink in the kitchen. With its clean lines and impeccable finish, no chef could feel more chic.

The double bedroom is tempting in white and the gentlest blue, with a feature wall, mirrored chest of drawers and twin bedside lamps. You’ve a brightly modern shower room, while the master bedroom has a super king size bed, swathed in our crisp linen – as well as a dressing table, more feature wallpaper and fashion prints in black and white.

Fuss free

As well as the shops and the sumptuous restaurants, the King’s Road offers up everything from cinemas to modern art galleries, such as the Saatchi and Northcote. You’re close to Fulham Road’s fashions, South Ken’s fabled museums and Battersea Park, which sits just over the river. If that’s not enough, there’s always the allure of town. The tube from Sloane Square to Oxford Circus takes just over ten minutes.
