Housed within a converted Victorian school, it oozes character, and its ultra upscale fit-out gives it a fashionable, contemporary edge. The surrounding area is equally packed with charm, from Victorian parks to ancient churches, so head out for a constitutional around the historical hotspots, stopping for lunch at the famous St. John restaurant, then have a mooch in the array of high end interiors and design shops in the area. On your way home, pick up a copy of Monocle and recline in your Kingsway Place pad, bathed in the light from the original Victorian windows.

Class act

Your host is a freelance media professional with a love of theatre and the arts. Her impossibly stylish abode is testament to her years of grooming in all thing cool, from her vintage record collection, to her antique furniture, to her stacks of fashion magazines. When she’s not relaxing in her beautiful home, she’s making the most of Clerkenwell’s thriving café and restaurant culture.

Open book

The open plan living space gives Kingsway Place an effortlessly modern atmosphere, while the original features, the high ceilings and steel beams, give in retro appeal. Brew a coffee in the cream-and-chrome kitchen, and sip away at the dining table, with your Saturday papers spread across its tactile wooden surface, or pop on some tunes and curl up in the sixties armchair. All around you, beautiful interior design pieces wait to be admired, such as the vintage sideboard and the black and white photography. At bedtime, head upstairs to the mezzanine bedroom, where a king sized bed is fringed with crisp white walls and shelves upon shelves of books. There’s an immaculate shower room next door, too.

Playground games

When you’re out and about in Clerkenwell, you’ll be hoping the bell doesn’t ring. Check out Clerkenwell Green, one of London’s best preserved old village squares (and the setting for a scene in Oliver Twist), or mooch in the picturesque gift boutiques of Exmouth Market. Clerkenwell is equidistant from fashionable Shoreditch and bustling Oxford Circus, which you can reach in just 15 minutes on the bus.
